September 6

Sunday 6 September

Today is Fathers Day but unfortunately, there is no mobile phone coverage here in Ringarooma so I’m unable to phone Dad or Gav or Nick to wish them Happy Fathers Day. I’ll just have to make a belated call once we get to Launceston.

Loraine was trialing Sunday roast lunches today for the first time. It seemed to work quite well and there were quite a few compliments on how it all went. She also had some live music for the afternoon and that probably helped too.

Bob & I went for bit of a walk in the afternoon but not too far because it was too dang cold outside! We did venture out again in the afternoon to take a peek through the old church across the road. It now holds all types of information about the history of Ringarooma. The old church had a beautiful timber ceiling and gorgeous stained glass windows too. Apparently the church and the house on the same block sold in the last year for $140 000 and the church was then leased for $10 a year!

Loraine is able to close the pub early on a Sunday night, so by 7.30pm everyone was gone and we all sat down to a game of cards, followed by a game of Eightball (kind of like snooker) with the jukebox going for background music. A nice way to end the day and we were up in bed before 9.30pm.
